After talking about the victorious Celtics and Rockets, things got a little heated, when I suggested that the charge taken by Shane Battier -- you know, the one which sent Lamar Odom crashing to the deck and caused him to leave the game for good with a sore back -- might have been a reckless play by Battier. Reckless like the play that involved Trevor Ariza and Rudy Fernandez earlier this season.
Do I make any sense here, or is Moore correct in thinking I'm way off base? Only one way to find out, and that's to listen for yourself.

Lakers have sent 2 players to the hospital this year with 'reckless' and maybe even dirty behavior.

Unprofessional, lazy, stupid, idiot, dumb and dumber; all these words describe the Lakers. They are a disgrace to the organization, the city of Los Angeles and their fans. It is one thing to give it your all and loose but anything less than 100% in a playoffs game is unforgivable. Actually if they had given 50% I would be happy with that. I am pretty sure even Chick could not rest in peace in his grave. Not that they were not warned by the coaching staff, evidently they completely ignored it. I guess when the players are deaf and dumb, nothing will get thru and motivate them. A stinking Mother's day performance or should I say non-performance by the Lakers.

Are you, Brett Pollakoff reckless in trying to characterize maybe the classiest and cleanest player in the NBA as "reckless"? Yes, yes you are.
Apparently one retarded article about Battier's legal defense in taking a charge was not enough? Brett had to follow it up with another?
Odom's move - against the rules.
Battier's move - within the rules.
Stop crying like Kobe. Just admit you got blown out of the building by a team without two superstars and any center.
The Lakers are not that great. The Rockets play disciplined, non-fouling, team basketball, all of which the Lakers know nothing about.
Artest has gotten ejected from two games and has yet to commit a flagrant. Kobe has committed multiple flagrants, taken cheap shots at both Battier and Artest, and hasn't suffered any repurcussions beyond the NBA calling one of his cheap shots a flagrant 1 AFTER THE GAME (in fact, Artest was hit with a foul on the play, and ejected from the game when he made an issue of it).
Who has the right to be pissed?
Is it the cheap-shot Lakers? Um no, try again, dummy.

calling out Battier as Dirty makes you look clueless. He's the classiest guy in the league and you go after him? Yeah, you sure know your stuff.

Okay, unlike some others on here.....I actually understand your point. Unfortunately, it doesn't mean that you're any less wrong.
Odom had picked up his dribble but hadn't taken his last step as Battier stepped in front of them. Battier's choice at that point is move aside and give Odom a free lane to the basket or take the charge and know that he will go flying. He did the courageous thing and took the hit. The fact that Odom ended up hurt on the play says nothing about Battier's play. Odom saw Battier moving in front of him but gambled that if he left directly into him that Battier wouldn't be set in time. He could have lept across Battier to the right instead and limited the contact. Instead he went right into him and got hurt himself.
There' no harm in looking at the play and asking the question of whether it was reckless. But if you look at objectively, and I'm not a fan of wither of the teams, you see that if there was any recklessness on the play it was by Odom.

The NBA league hve to look into the referees.
With the past history of cheating for money and this year the calling of flagrant fouls when its just not the case is deplorable. The refs are old
and should be replaced with new blood. These old refs think they are gods and try to determine the
outcome of the games. Dirty calling by the refs
especially in the dallas/denver series and now in
the lakers/houston season. who puts their face right into another like Artest did to Kobe. He should have been suspended for tht kind of action.

yep, can't agree more about that. the NBA referees are FIXED!!
How dare Artest put his face right into kobe's throat? He should be suspended!
How dare Artest put his throat right into kobe's elbow? He should be suspended!!
How dare Battier put his head right into kobe's knee and elbow? He should be suspended!!!
How dare Houston not rolling over and let LA have a clear path to the finals? They all should be suspended!!!!
man... what a bunch of reckless players houston have. they are a shame for NBA...

There's no way Houston can win this series, there is a conspiracy of who's going to win; maybe Lakers give it away the win because its mothers day and they want to make all the fans happy in Houston. They want to make this an entertainment series like wwf wrestling "This game is fixed from the very start" and somebody bet millions out of this and if you ask me who, just think? nba is gambling...

Bottom line; Houston will lose the series, there is no Grand Conspiracy to push the Lakers through, Artest is a dirty hothead thug, and anyone or thing said about the Lakers you are going to jump on. My advise? GET A FREAKIN' LIFE! You guys are a joke....

Laker fans, alright we get it already!
Ok so maybe my Rockets team had no business beating the Lakers after we lost Yao, we're sorry for winning game four and ruining your spirits, but what did you want us to do, roll over and hand the series to LA and go home quietly?
I admit, your team is far superior than mine. There, does that make you feel any better?
All of the sudden, we're the bad guys for competing despite losing player after player.

Losing star players doesn't sound quit as good as "we were rusty" and therefore isn't a valid excuse. So we went ahead and played some basketball. That way if/when the Lakers get to the next round, they will win the first game of that series only because they other team will be rusty.
I'm sorry Lakers, is there somewhere else you need to be?

when kobe elbowed artest in the throat he twisted his body to the left and uncoiled the right elbow like a spring deliberate and flagrant. Refs missed that but saw artest elbow back. So if they had called a flagrant on kobe, Ron would not have gone off, gotten a T and ejected. Would Houston be 3 and 1 right now?
kobe has 51 technicals this season. artest has 15.
