That right there was how Dwight Howard picked up his sixth technical foul of the post-season, on a play where he was tackled around the neck by Anderson Varejao, but somehow managed to score anyway. This was cause for concern, because one more would get him a one-game suspension, which his Magic could ill-afford to have happen at this late stage of the playoffs.
According to Dwight himself, the league informed him that they have rescinded the technical foul, which is obviously great news for the Magic.
If the league truly wanted to do the right thing, though, they would take the technical they initially gave to Howard, and retroactively assess it to Varejao instead.
The "Refs" are really screwing the pooch this playoffs. They are very inconsistent and the number of phantom calls that go LeBron James' way is enough to make you sick. It hasn't been this bad since Dwayne Wade received the royal treatment when he won his ring. As for Kobe, it seems as if he is getting mugged on almost every play and he doesn't get the calls; what is he- yesterday's newspaper? The Lakers will go all the way!
This whole scenario is totally nuts, we now have various "flagrants" which are reviewed by the NBA office the day after as well as "technicals" being reviewed. If that's not bad enough we have different degrees and variances of flagrants and technicals. Stop with all of this goofyness!!!!
The NBA has lost all credibility. It is so obvious that the refs are doing everything they can to help Cleveland. The problem is that there are so many cameras that we can see just how unfair, biased, and shamefully inept they are. "Do you believe in miracles!" It will be a miracle if they can find three trustworthy refs in the NBA to officiate a single game. This series should have already been over in a 4-0 sweep by a better team. And what is going on in the West is just as criminal! You expect law enforcement authorities to swoop in and start arresting Denver players for their violent activities that the NBA refs think is "Basketball." The NBA is a joke!
Just another example of how the league is trying to fix this series.
You try and tackle an opposing player and the opposing player gets called for a foul.
WTF.
The NBA is a joke. The Fix is in. They just don't want the Magic to win. Lebron is in so many commercials, they don't want him to lose.
It's so obvious. It's embarassing to the league.
The Officiating in this series has made it very, very clear they are trying to fix the games.
I've never seen the Ref.'s call a worse game let alone an entire series.
Mo Williams threw the ball at Howards face right in front of all the ref.s in one of the earlier games and they didn't even call a Tech. The guys on TNT we're laughing out loud about it. They came right out and said the fix was in, right on national TV.
Kobe's not getting the royal treatment because someone in the public relations office at the NBA finally realized it's not cool to have a rapist as the face of your organization.
Did they also rescind the point in the technical foul shot? These games are so close that a technical foul point can determine the end score. Just saying, "Oops...sorry" will not be enough when it affects the final score.
varejao was making some really sketchy moves all throughout the whole night last night; he should have fouled out long before he did. what i hate about the nba is that it just seems too subjective to me what is and isn't called. don't get me wrong, i've seen some questionable holding and Pass Interference calls and no-calls in football, my sport of choice. but there isn't the least bit of consistency in foul calling in the nba, and as someone who roots for the underdog in the nba, i gotta say that yes i feel that the refs have been aiding cleveland - whether consciously or unconsciously - this entire series.
It sure seems like the Referees are trying to influence the outcome of this series. Orlando Fans, and Basketball fans in general should be very upset. It's just not right. David Stern needs to stop this. It makes him look like a criminal. Pete rose was tossed for life for betting on games. What will they do to Stern for trying to change the outcome of these games. It's just a sad state of affairs for the NBA right now.
They need to call off the ref.s and let the players decide whose better. The calls are so slanted to the Cavs it's silly. I think if Lebron does make it to the finals they will need to put an asterisk next to his name and the Cavs team explaining that the whole thing wasn't real. (Like Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens) Nothing they accomplish will matter becuase anyone with a brain can see what's going on.

Who cares.
The NBA is unwatchable.
I am going to watch the replay of the Manchester versus Barcelona championship game instead of the Lakers versus Nuggets.
