The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that the Magic have decided to hold out Jameer Nelson for tonight's Game 1 of the Finals, and that it's unlikely he'll return at any point in the series.Nelson hasn't played since February 3, and it was a long-shot that he'd be ready to go in time for Orlando's run at the title anyway. But he had been practicing with the team, and players were optimistic about him seeing some time on the court and being able to contribute in at least some capacity.
Most thought Nelson's return wasn't such a great idea, because (a) after being out for four months, he probably wasn't going to be physically ready to play at the game's highest level, and (b) messing with the chemistry of a team that got to the Finals without him would be a huge risk.
