There's no official confirmation yet, but as you can see above, Kevin Love seems to have let the cat out of the bag on Twitter: Kevin McHale, who led the Timberwolves to a 20-43 record after Randy Wittman's dismissal, is apparently no longer a candidate to resume coaching in 2009-10 and beyond.
(Update: GM David Kahn made the official announcement today.)

Even if Love is correct, it'll be interesting to learn the circumstances surrounding the decision. Though his players seemed to like him, McHale never seemed to warm up to the time commitment that came with coaching. Did he turn down an offer from the Timberwolves?
Or has new GM David Kahn settled on a different candidate? If so, is it Bill Laimbeer? He unexpectedly resigned from the WNBA's Detroit Shock on Monday, and fans immediately connected him to Minnesota's job, thanks to a recent blind item in a Minneapolis newspaper.
Whether Love has insight to any of these questions is not known -- after teasing his followers with this nugget of news, he promptly signed off for the night.

Good come-back to silly comment. Yeah, he'll probably go to Boston now to complete the "deal". If you know what I mean.
