The Boston Celtics' courting of Rasheed Wallace culminated with a contract offer, according to the Boston Globe, believed to be for two years at the mid-level exception, approximately $5.8 million.Wallace, formerly of the Detroit Pistons, has his share of suitors and is in no hurry to make a decision. Orlando and San Antonio have expressed interest in Wallace, who re-signed a five-year, $57 million deal with Detroit in July 2004. The Pistons decided to allow Wallace to walk and agreed to deals with Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva. Free agents aren't allowed to officially sign until July 8.
Wallace's production has waned over the past three seasons, as he has averaged just over 12 points this past season after logging 15.1 in 2005-06.
The Celtics intensified their pursuit of Wallace earlier this week, sending Ray Allen, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett along with GM Danny Ainge and managing partner Wyc Grousbeck to Detroit to meet with the mercurial forward. Wallace would have to play a complementary role for the Celtics, but likely would start along with the Big Three and Rajon Rondo.
Wallace turns 35 in September and averaged 12 points and 7.4 rebounds in 32 minutes this past season.

If celtics get rasheed then finals lakers vs. boston 210 mark my words
2010 sry again...
I have to agree. I love Sheed. Have since his days in Portland and I am sad to see him go after bringing us a championship on '04 but damn. I absolutely want to see Sheed, KG, Allen, Pierce, and Rondo take on Fisher, Bryant, Artest, Odom, and Gasol. That, in my eyes, is ten times better than any LeBron vs. Kobe Finals matchup ever could be. Expect more calls for the Cavs now though. The publicity of Shaq vs. Kobe in the Finals would be too much for Stern to pass up and he'll have to try to urge it to fruition.
Seeing Sheed and KG together will be nice too, I have to admit. After all the years of the three way between those two as well as Duncan, seeing two of the big three on the same team will be a sight to behold.
Also... does Sheed stand any chance at all for the Hall of Fame? KG and Duncan are literal shoe-ins but Sheed has been just as big the last decade and a half as those two have and it would seem he wouldn't even be considered, probably for how many techs and suspensions he's gotten. It's sad.
I'd imagine he is, since KG only has one championship, and if it's all based on rings (which it usually is in sports) then he'll be fine.
But, people seem to be forgetting the Orlando Magic. They're still quite interested in Rasheed. How about the starting line-up of Nelson, Carter, Lewis, Wallace and Howard? Five all-star (past and present). The only thing that sucks is they have no more Gortat, most likely.
In my opinion I don't see the Celtics making it to the Finals again, the top Eastern teams are just too strong now. Even with the addition of Rasheed, they may be top two, but still, getting by Cleveland and Orlando? I personally don't see it. The team is reportedly falling apart, wanting certain players out. Trade talks and such might get in the way, KG back from his injury, age, blah blah blah. It could all play a factor. The Magic are the younger, hungrier team, and if I were Rasheed that's where I would go.
Of course, Orlando has to match the MLE, lol.
