One of the biggest moves of this free agent season went down on Thursday, when it was learned that Ron Artest will be heading to the Lakers. Matt Moore and I break down what is effectively going to be L.A. trading Trevor Ariza for Artest, as it was also announced that Ariza agreed to a deal with the Rockets. After plenty of Artest talk, we also review some of the other deals that have gone down, and ponder the fates of some other would-be contenders like the Cavaliers, Pistons, Magic, and Celtics.
Free agent talk at it's finest, after the jump.

No contest with Lebron and Shaq. Shaq can't wait to make it to the finals to prove to Kobi who made him.

The Lakers blew it..Ariza is going to be a allstar....his steals and timely 3's in the playoffs were huge.Hes only going to get better.Artest is a dick and always will be a problem, he will need imediate meditation with Phil as soon as he arrives. Besides Kobe he was the second mvp in the playoffs.

I really liked Trevor and his style of play. I am going to miss him. I wanted the team to stay intact. I guess Mitch knows what he is doing. I believe that Artest will help us defensively by us not having to depend on Kobe to defend every team's best player. We will repeat as champs again next season. Shaq, Kobe wins number five before you, and going to Cleveland is not going to help Lebron get a ring.

I feel the same way like you for Ariza. But, if you can look closer on how it happened, I am sure you will appreciate more the Lakers. Ariza received the same offer. But his agent and himself proclaimed it as an insult, so they went shopping. Magic J, Phil J and Jerry Buss were the ones who initiated and closed the deal with Artest. Not Mitch. Mitch will just formalize it. They did not have to pay more than what they offered Ariza. And they most probabbly took in a player that can help them most for the coming season. If Laker's prolonged the negotiation, Artest might have gone to Cavs. And that would have been scary. Ariza seemed to be a nice guy. But he let his agent go too far. Although he is younger than Artest, going to a team like Rockets at this time is disastrous to his future. And why do you think Artest who is a Rocket wanted more to be a Laker? Sure Ariza can become a monstrous scoring machine there, but he will just be playing in regular seasons. Not even first round. Tracy Macgreedy is not a shadow of himself now. And Yao? I think he is done. The Lakers did an excelent job. They have secured next season. Following seasons? One year at a time for now for the Lakers. Smart, ha!

Shaq going to Cleveland WOULD help James get a ring...EXCEPT the Lakers probably have too much talent. Now,if James had Bynum,Fisher,Gasol,Odom and Artest on his team, any other team may as well not even show up.
