Doc Rivers may get a second chance to coach Grant Hill. The last time it didn't turn out so well.Rivers, now coach of the Boston Celtics, and Hill, an unrestricted free agent who played last season for the Phoenix Suns, will meet Sunday in Orlando to discuss the possibility of working together again. Both make their offseason homes here.
"I don't have to go very far to meet with him this time,'' Hill said Saturday night before watching his wife Tamia perform at a Summer Soul Series concert in Orlando.
Hill also is scheduled to travel Monday morning to New York, where he will meet with Knicks general manager Donnie Walsh and coach Mike D'Antoni. Suns general manager Steve Kerr came to Orlando Wednesday to speak with Hill about re-signing in Phoenix.
"I don't know what's going to happen now,'' Hill said. "It's too early to say.''
Rivers and Hill spent parts of four seasons together (2000-2004) with the Orlando Magic, but the period was scarred by injuries. Hill spent most of his time on the sideline, battling right ankle problems that required four different surgeries and almost ended his career. His absence from the lineup, and Orlando's struggles without him, were why Rivers was fired early in the 2003-04 season.
Hill, 36, isn't the player he once was before his ankle woes when he averaged 25.8 points with the Detroit Pistons in 1999-00, but he is healthy and productive again. He played all 82 games last season in Phoenix when he averaged 12 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists in almost 30 minutes.
The Celtics, meanwhile, have been looking to add to an already veteran core that won the NBA title two seasons ago. They met with Detroit's Rasheed Wallace last week.

just what the celtics need another old bastard on their team
good observation jbarr. The one thing you missed was those "old" bastards won the championship last year and would have again this year if it were not for injuries.
You should be more concerned with all the teams with the young basdards who didn't win. Ahhh, I love old bastards who beat the hell out of young bastards. And I gather you're a Laker's fan?
damn the celtics are trying to get all these old washed up players, next the are going to sign robert parish.come on celts aim younger not older .in the immortal wors of mark jackson, danny ainge"you are better than that."lol
Lord knows I am not a Celtic fan, but the Celtics and Lakers have always been on top of the competition, based on smart vision for the future and not the moment. If you just look at the dynasties over the past 35 years, each has been made up of veteran players, that have been infused with young players watching and learning what it takes to be a champion. OK, you have the superstar (young) players, but they do not know how to lead or win. A lot of folk won't agree with me, but this is a learned skill, only acheived by immulating those veteran mentors. This is an exceptional move by the Celtic with Raashed and Hill. Not since the Sixers (of the 80s), Celtics (60s,70s,80s), Lakers (of the 60s,80s) have you had teams that are 12 deep and have consistent, proven players.
