LAS VEGAS -- FanHouse has confirmed that the Toronto Raptors are set to sign Indiana's Jarrett Jack to an offer sheet, likely as early as Monday. CBSsports.com's Ken Berger initially reported the Raptors were considering the move.Toronto general manager Bryan Colangelo wouldn't comment on the possibility of acquiring Jack, but during the course of an interview acknowledged the Raptors would like to address perimeter defense and backup point guard.
Earlier in the day, Raptors coach Jay Triano said the team struggled last season at that position after Jose Calderon went down with an injury.
The Raptors are also said to be looking into acquiring a 3-point shooter, with Denver restricted free agent Linas Kleiza near the top of the list. Former Raptor Carlos Delfino, who played overseas last season, is also in the mix.
Jack, who started 53 games last year for the Pacers, doesn't quite fit the bill as a 3-point shooter (34 percent career from beyond arc), but he is capable of playing both guard spots and is a better defender than Calderon.
The pursuit of Jack also means that the Raptors are not ready to hand over the backup PG duties to Roko Ukic, currently starting for Toronto's summer league team.

The Raptors will need to try to find a starting quality wing guard, even if free agent Parker stays. Maybe they think Kleiza, a 6`8 power forward known mainly for his 3 pt. shooting, who was played out of position at times for Denver as a wing guard can start for them at wing guard, not wing forward? Bargnani needed to get some meat on his bones, and, though still skinny, did, but he needs to develope an inside game, at least on defense and both backboards, or the Raptors will finish out of the playoffs again, and likely lose Bosh to a winning team, or at least, potential winning team.
Hey Giles, is it uncomfortable living under that rock?? Seriously, have you been lost somewhere for the last year?
I came back online a year ago, extended family insisted, after Mom died they felt I needed something. Especially with my brother defaming Mom and me in court, which he is still doing. I`d been gone 2 1/2 years tending Mom while she was dying, so wasn`t surprised I wasn`t welcomed back. And now with Aol charging for security which failed to protect against a hacker typing to me on my own computer, I won`t be online anymore. If you know any of the folks I used to chat with, would you tell them I miss most of them? I respect their privacy. And their right to be disinterested. Thanks for asking. I hope whomever you are you are well.
And for one of the hackers, Adam, yes, I do remember you sort of, not much. You had a nice girl friend I didn`t chat much with because she had a boyfriend, and Tina was friendly with you, too. One of the several ladies I miss chatting with, from YEARS ago, back when the Short Skirts room officially existed. I don`t miss the room being booted, but otherwise miss the Smiley faces Adam used to use as Smiley. But hackers have deleted my OS 6 times in 9 years mainly offline, and despite my extended family insisting I be online, even I can understand, as the lyric in Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves pointed out, when you`re not welcome, which I`ve never been, you don`t hang around. So no, it has never been comfortable for those who were also sinners to throw stones at me, but folks just have to try to cope with life, comfortable or not. I survived heart surgery in 2006, guess I can survive not being "wuved" on Aol, too.
