LAS VEGAS -- If you were looking for Mike Dunleavy to shoot down rumors of the Clippers' interest in Allen Iverson, he didn't Tuesday night. The Clippers coach didn't mention the controversial guard by name, but he did say the club is "exploring our options with a lot of different guys and to see what's the best situation for our team, but we'll see it all plays out."
There have been numerous questions as to whether Iverson could mix with the young Clippers, a promising team that includes Blake Griffin, Eric Gordon and Al Thornton. In addition, the Clippers still have Baron Davis on contract for four more years, although it seems his tenure in Los Angeles has already turned sour.
"I always worry about chemistry, with all my players," Dunleavy said. The Clippers' brass, including owner Donald Sterling, executive vice president Andy Roeser and Dunleavy, were primarily watching Griffin, who tallied 16 points in 36 minutes. But they are expected to meet with Iverson's agent, Leon Rose, Wednesday, perhaps to discuss a free-agent contract.

The Clippers are such a horribly mismanaged embarrassment to my city even adding a washed up showboat like IA could not make the Clips any worse. Why can't the whole franchise be traded back to Buffalo (they started out there as the Braves) for a bucket of hot wings. The Lakers are World Champions. The Clippers are a perennial joke. I like a good laugh as much as the next person. But, enough is enough. Get those losers out of LA!

Griffin is dominating a summer league in which Randolph, of the Golden State Warriors, broke the single game scoring record of Von Wafer and Banks. `Memba them for the all pro team, the all star game? Iverson started for the regular season all star team, not just a summer league. Any team offering him a mid level exception or less to come off the bench is seeking some free publicity, not Iverson. He may not make all star any more, but he is still better than most guards, by default. He misses too many shots, he lacks strength, even compared with other point guards, though not heart, on court, gambles when he plays defense. But he does take the ball to the hoop, and does take a lick but keep on ticking. His public image is poor, so the idea of him selling tickets is wishful thinking, outside of a few urban markets which value style over substance. And he is the wrong fit for what the Clips need. The need wings who play D, as well as shoot. The team is a shambles and play no defense, so they lose lots of high scoring games. And waste decent quality veteran bigs like Randolph, Camby, and Kaman, all of them near all stars if they were on a winning team, one which plays defense. It isn`t Iverson who isn`t good enough for the Clips, the Clips, under coach Dunleavy, aren`t nearly good enough for even Iverson.
