Despite having her name in the tabloid headlines for a week, Kesha Ni'Cole Nichols waited until Wednesday before finally making the rounds with the media, re-living her broken engagement to Richard Jefferson while attempting to dispel several rumors about the whole ordeal.Jefferson has been widely ridiculed for his decision to call off the engagement via e-mail, but as Nichols admitted during an interview with Extra, the e-mail merely confirmed a conversation the couple started the previous night.
"We had pretty much decided we were going to call the wedding off but just wanted one night apart to really reflect and think about everything... When I got here [New York] Monday, I found the email that pretty much said what we had talked about before. I wasn't in shock."
As Nichols revealed in an interview with Diane Sawyer on Good Morning America, Nichols and Jefferson did talk at length after the e-mail.
"After the e-mail we did talk for a few hours and just made sure that we were both at peace with what was going to happen," Nichols said. "I'll always care about him. He was my best friend for five years, so I have no hard feelings towards Richard at all."
Nichols also admitted to receiving an undisclosed sum of money following the breakup, though she described it as a parting gift to help her get back on her feet. "I was making six figures before I met Richard and I'll be making more after Richard," she told Extra. "It's just a stepping-stone to make sure I'm going to be okay... I just want the world to know that I'm not a gold digger."

Too bad all golddiggas can't be as gracious as her.
So she just had to go on tv to let the world know she's not a golddigger...hmmm ok. if she says so...NOT!!!!
Richard is dumber now than when he called off the wedding. You don't dump a girl and then pay them for accepting the dump. He was determine to get rid of the 2 mil. He leaves an open credit card for the attending guest and then he pays the girl for her lost wages or time spent with him. I am glad he can play basketball because he is a terrible business man. He operates at a loss and likes it. Dude, get somebody to handle your money. Keep this up and you will be broke when you retire. S-T-U-pid.
And this is not a case of Gold Digging. This is straight up Prostitution. When you pay for sex and relaxation from a girl, it's prostitution. Paying for services rendered. Dude and the girl should be arrested and charged with indecent exposure and prostituting across State lines.
Andi...you're a complete moron. She wa snot prostituting herself...they were together for 5 years and they broke up amicably. He left her some money just to help her get back on her feet since she has not been working because she was dedicating her time to their relationship.
I kinda agree with you too, because if the wedding call off was mutual as she says it is then why pay her? did she pay him too? how stupid you don't pay someone for the breakup and if she was making six figures before him then where is her money? she shouldn't need his. It's all a game these people play there is few real relationships in the celebrity world.
Let me get this sraight, Simon Cowell can buy his ex-girlfriend (not even his fiance, not even dumping her pre-wedding as in this case) a house and no one says boo or gold-digger, yet this incident has people screaming gold=digger? Why because he's an athlete? Gimme a break!!!
I guess we were wrong about her!! I wish her the best.
She's gorgeous, intelligent, and didn't air any dirty laundry on her ex after the dump; it all adds up to a well bred lady in my book. Don't sell or give away the gown just yet young lady, I have a feeling there will plenty of others circling around to pick up the slack.
How sad is this ? Diane Sawyer treats it like another tabloid story. Kesha, really is an honorable lady, caught in the riches of a world she was never raised for and shouldn't be a part of. I need to get myself a North Carolina lady.
Let's see now, an intimate relationship that terminates with the paying of money. Well, we know what she is but don't know her fee schedule.
I was impressed by her comments, composure and maturity. She showed no animosity or negativity toward him and actually painted him in a positive light. That's not easy when your heart is breaking and you're open to humiliation.
She readily admitted to being sad but exhibited poise and hope for the future. Class act. Just for the record, I've never seen or heard of her before but I find her clip to be a breath of fresh air.
In my opinion, she's just a chick who broke up with her man. AND? I think we that we shouldn't want to hear from her. For what? For Diane to spend time on an interview with her was a waste!
I watched the interview yesterday and I have to admit that she was indeed a lady throughout the whole questioning. This girl certainly has class after the embarrassment of it all...as for the money, I think she gave him alot of her time traveling with him and gave up her career so now it's her turn to get her life back together. I can't believe people turning this to make it dirty, what's the matter with you? She spent alot of her money and family's money for this wedding and I think this is the least he could do for her....
she did not spend her money, it was made clear it was his MONEY
uh. isn't it cuz RJ is gay? am i the only one who's heard this rumor?
If there were more of these last minute decisions made, there would be fewer nasty divorces, with the "poor" ex-wife getting the lion's share of the divorce settlement..This could be why most "Garboons" don't bodda to marry da Ho!
THIS IS NOT ABOUT BEING A GOOD BUSINESSMAN, THIS IS A MATTER OF THE HEART... LET THE GIRL DOWN AS EASY AS POSSIBLE..DONT CRUSH HER...IF YOU HAVE THE MEANS TO HELP HER THROUGH THIS, ITS THE RIGHT THING TO DO...RICHARD IS A GOOD GUY NOT A CHEAPSKATE... HOPE HE DOES WELL WITH HIS NEW TEAM THE SPURS...
i just broke up with my girlfriend of 4 years. we meant everything to each other but we just dont do well in the same house. when we went our separate ways it was peaceful and she can call me for anything, and vice versa.
She is an amazing class act! Talk about an exercise in humility! Maybe WE are all supposed to learn something from HER aside from her heartbreak. Ten out of ten on the selfless scale from her - Wow!
KEISHA NICHOLS IS VERY CLASSY ON HOW SHE HANLED THE MEDIA. I APPLAUD HER.
