Some day scholars will find footage of Stephon Marbury's 24-hour marathon interactive uStream broadcast, and they will structure curricula around it. The marathon chat session, which began early Friday, concluded Saturday morning. Just before his alarm signifying a full 24 hours of broadcast went off at 9 AM ET, Starbury told some 800 live viewers how he felt."I love you all," Marbury said. And the feeling's mutual -- it's amazing how well-received this effort was around the web, no matter the negative stigma attached to Starbury as an NBA player.
Marbury has always been a good quote, but the uStream marathon took it to another level. NBA Musings collected a huge list of quotes -- required reading for the sections you didn't watch -- and it's pure gold. (My favorite continues to be: "Jeanie Buss, I love her with all my heart. I'd take out my heart and give it to her." In a close second would be "Shout out to India!")
Starbury took us to his pool, let us watch him sign business documents, introduced us to his friends, refused to be put in a box, banned haters from the uStream chat room, and frankly talked very little basketball. All the same, I can see this being the most memorable event of the NBA's summer. Few will forget watching a wide-eyed Marbury staring at the camera for 24 hours, chatting with his fans.
uStream has archived a number of videos from the broadcast.

There is no reason why we shouldn't be the first generation of scholars analysing Steph's epic marathon. What does it mean? Where is the reason behind it? Where does its awesomeness come from? Those are questions in need of being answered.
