You know what they say. "The best laid plans of mice and men with beards and their own film companies ..."Needless to say, Baron Davis did not have the kind of season he was hoping for in his debut with the Clippers. He essentially fulfilled every negative concern that's been posited about him during his career. Injury-riddled. Inconsistent. Poor leadership. Bails at the first sign of trouble. You know, Baron Davis before the Warriors tenure.
And in an effort to convey a sincere desire to turn things around, Davis is using some pretty blunt assessments of his own play. The buck stops at the beard, apparently.
The Daily Breeze nabbed a pretty great quote from Davis at his Rising Stars camp this weekend.
"I sucked. I sucked last year. I admit it. What (else) should I say?"
Well, yes, Baron. That just about wraps it up. That's the gist. The long and the short. The whole shebang. But really, Baron, do you have to mince words so much?
In his remarks, Davis does say all the things Clippers fans could possibly hope for. He talks about taking responsibility, shutting up his critics, and working through his problems with head coach Mike Dunleavy.
The problem is that this is still just words. Davis has only been able to prove that he's inconsistent throughout his career, and with the Clippers unlikely to make huge strides, even with the addition of Blake Griffin, it remains to be seen if Davis can get his mind right.
The Clippers have been active this offseason, even if none of the moves outside of Griffin have been phenomenal earth-shakers. However, with Al Thornton still a work in progress, Eric Gordon an exciting player entering only his second season, Griffin, and a possibly focused Baron Davis, it's possible that the Clippers just might have a recipe for contention this season.
Then again, hell could freeze over. You know. Anything's possible.

Baron, you get a pass because you played for the Clippers. Nobody notice or cared.
