Any basketball fan -- with the possible exception of those living in Oklahoma City -- can sympathize with the people in Seattle. After 41 seasons, the Sonics were unceremoniously ripped from the city, for a combination of reasons that still aren't a hundred percent clear, even more than a year after the fact. That's where "Sonicsgate" comes in. This documentary film, set to be released online October 12, seeks to "expose the truth behind the SuperSonics' tragic exodus" from Seattle. Looks like it'll be some pretty compelling stuff, so check out the trailer after the jump.

Not really a big surprise why Seattle didn`t get the contract to build the SST SuperSonics, or why the Nba team left. The government decided the SST was porkbarrel, not cost effective, banned supersonic civilian flights over the US, so the French/English Concorde failed to make money, even without US competition, since the US to Singapore/Hong Kong/Tokyo/Osaka/Pusan/etc. and US to London/Paris/RandStadt/Ruhr-Rhein/etc., would have been the main routes. And the Grizzles divided the Seattle market, with Canadians no longer willing to go back to supporting Seattle when they lost their own team, so the allied support was no longer their for the team. Lack of amenities to charge extra for also cost the team money. If someone like Bill Gates were to buy a team like the Grizzlies, remodel the Arena of his choice with amenities, they would make money again, if this exonomic depression ever ends. And Memphis fans would ache for expansion teams in Nashville, for a rivalry, and/or Thebes (St. Louis), and/or Missouri (Kansas) City, but the Nba is usually not eager to expand. Much of the expansion was forced by competition from the Abl/Aba, which no longer exists. But Gates got shafted by Gore`s attorney, who lost Gore the Presidential election both by beating Gates and by losing to Bush, and lost half his money. If Seattle fans won`t support him, why should he step in to support them?
