Allen Iverson has been back and forth on whether or not he would actually join the Memphis Grizzlies -- one of a handful of franchises that meets the exact opposite of his preferences (not competitive, full of young players, no chance at a championship, etc.) But with few options on the table, he's signing with them anyway. So sayeth the breaking news machine that is Twitter.
God Chose Memphis as the place that I will continue my career. I met with Mr. Heinsley, Chris Wallace and my next head coach Lionel HollinsOf course, don't let my pessimism about Iverson's future with the Grizzlies deter you ... or him, for that matter.
I feel that they are committed to developing a winner and I know that I can help them to accomplish that. I feel that I can trust them.
Right. So, anyway (and more importantly) the details of the contract, from David Aldridge: one year, $3.5 million. Pretty simple and not that surprising, although with Iverson's "committed to building a winner" talk, I kind of expected Iverson to pull some three-year deal that would make everyone who's ever cared about Memphis b-ball to pull the traditional palm-to-face move.Anyway, it'll be interesting to see how he fits -- if his tweets are any indication, he's actually ready to play "team-first" ball. But then again, Iverson announced the signing on Twitter, which is so bizarre in the first place that we shouldn't be all that surprised by anything he does from here on out.

Let me guess... God had Memphis offer the most money huh,Mister White I mean Iverson
Cant wait for the first tme he comes off the bench
You sound like a hater to me!! And what do you do for a living? How much do you make a year... oops I meant hour? And are you coming off of your mother's bench or your own? Dont be a hater all of your life, Get a life!!
Sorry .. but Iverson's day in the sun has come and gone. While a great player in his day, the remarkable accomplishments he's pursued and tackled, this new move of his is obviously all about the money. Iverson never was, and never will be, a TEAM FIRST player. Sorry IV !
Who cares what this little punk does? overrated overpaid overall an idiot.
WHO CARES! He is a washed up has been.........".PRACTICE.......... YA'LL TALKING ABOUT PRACTICE" Yes Allen, PRACTICE! That is what makes WINNING TEAMS, you preferred to be ONLY about YOU. You wasted a rare talent you were given & never reached the pinnicle of NBA Championship & that is what you play the game for. In your case, you played it for YOURSELF. You should have PRACTICED & remained in Philly.
76ers wanted to go another way and AI was holding them back with his contract, remember Iverson did go to the championship with the sixers and won MVP that same season that says something but u r right, AI isn't a team player cause he couldn't trust his team, so he'll never win a championship unless he goes to the lakers but that wouldn't happen, Kobe wouldn't allow it
Iverson said that when he had to make a rare miss from practice DUE TO INJURY. He normally practiced hard. Guys don`t work for Coach Thompson on Coach Brown if they don`t work hard in practice not just in the games. I don`t like his personal style, the women`s jewelry, braids, tattoos, and I prefer point guards to pass first, but he shoots first. Nevertheless, he passes off for a lot of assists for a scorer, not so many for an assist guy, steals a lot of balls, takes the ball strong to the hoop. He gamebles too much on both ends of the court, but he works hard on both ends of the court. He`s in the twilight of his career, probably, but Shaq made a comeback and is now an all star former has been, and Iverson didn`t miss the all star game last year, so it wouldn`t even be a comeback in the unlikely event, if he signs with Memphis, he makes all star again this season.
if ai is signing with memphis that tells me that there were not many offers on the table or at least good offers. AI, what's that tell you? your time has come and went and no contender thinks you can help their team get better. time to hang it up.
Overated player that was only interested in his own stats. Never a team player, as his team stats and lack of playoff success attest to. Not a shooter (low shooting %), just a scorer. There is probaly a reason why teammates, coaches and franchises don't like him.
Iverson is a great NBA veteran, but now hes just a veteran. Hes got a little game left, but w/ his attitude I wouldnt sign him anywhere.
Allen, I don't think God decides what team you should play for!
Doesn't God have better things to do?
First of all iverson is not one of Gods children. God does not like punks.
Sorry--but the God i worship through his son Jesus does forgive every one for all things--it requires repentance and confession to Him ---not reporters --not posters on aol---and not t all these naysayers----May God bless and forgive us all-------Amen
Dear Allen,
I had nothing to do with your signing the Memphis contract. I told your agent to sign with the Lakers, making them a weaker team. By the way, I am a Celtics fan.

Half way through the season Cry Baby Face Iverson will be crying his eyeballs out. What does God have to do with that? He is a big selfish jerk. Nobody wins when there is an "I" on team. For Iverson it is give me the ball, it is all about me. He is another overpaid spoiled rich athlete. He is not about winning, and never will be.
AI is a has been...like yesterdays newspaper...old news.....its over babeeeeee...rondo owns u anyways
Someone need to ask is what teams has benefit from Allan Iverson being on their team. He sure have stay in Philly.
