Not only has Tracy McGrady recovered quickly from microfracture surgery, he has recovered so quickly he might not miss the first practice of the 2009-10 season. Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports that McGrady will be in Houston ready for practice Tuesday. Mac had microfracture surgery last February. Recovery typically takes upward of a year, and certainly more than eight months.
Needless to say, a healthy McGrady is a huge boost to a Rockets team in need of some more offense. With Shane Battier, Trevor Ariza, Chuck Hayes and Carl Landry, the roster has tons of starting-level defense. But Luis Scola and Aaron Brooks are the only prolific scorers, and either could be neutralized without a miracle. Vintage McGrady cannot be neutralized without a miracle. Now, healthy McGrady and vintage McGrady aren't necessarily the same player -- T-Mac hasn't been epic in a few seasons, at least.
But McGrady ain't going to hurt. If nothing else, Scola and Brooks will have much softer coverage so long as T-Mac is drawing attention on the wing.

Except I'd say McGrady can hurt them if he still thinks that he should be taking as active a role on offense as he was a few years ago. If he shoots in moderation, and plays a role, then he'll help, but if he tries to take over and is only as effective as he was last year, then they have more effective people that can take those shots for them I think.
Why would any team count on this guy to be a leader or a great player,he will get injured agin and go on disabled list like he does almost evry year,if he plays than houston is probably a better team, but you can not count on this guy for more than 50 games, and playoff;forget about it!!!!!!
I can not wait to see this team play. As a Dallas resident, I should be glad to see Yao shelved and T-Mac ailing, but this group is the reason I'm getting league pass this season.
Trevor Ariza should be okay, whether Mc is really available to alternate with him or not, whether he has to play/produce much or little. It is Ming and DikeMbe being out which makes the Rockets a small ball team, maybe even more fun to watch, but certainly less likely to be productive in the playoffs, especially. But they held up a few games without both before losing, so maybe they can hold up some, in a less pressure, but longer, stretch in the regular season. If they do, it should gain Adelman the attention his prior record suggests he`s deserved, and give the no names, whom Tracy may play with, less insecurity. Hope he stays healthy, expect he will play in the flow of the team, on both ends. The sound of one hand clapping is silence. Teams win or lose with their role players, the stars will get theirs, so it isn`t Trace who is crucial to the team, it is Scola, Ariza, Battier, Brooks, and whomever starts if Trace doesn`t, Landry or Hayes, or whomever, who will determine how the regular season goes, and if there IS a post season to be too small for.
Feigen did not report McGrady will be in practice Tuesday. He has not been cleared for training camp/practice but he will stay in Houston to continue rehabbing
I would like to see TMac not start the season. Give him a little more rest and let the others get a little chemistry going... see how their motivation is. If they play well and with confidence.. let Tracy rest a bit more (hard to say that with the amount of money he is making this season). If they don't play well and their confidence is lacking.. still let Tracy rest a few games and see if the coach and the team can get them out. Let them grow a little bit, and then bring Tracy in.
