It's safe to say that Danilo Gallinari would like to put his rookie year behind him. The Italian forward played only 28 games for the New York Knicks because of health issues and is looking forward to proving to everyone that the organization made the right choice when they drafted him sixth overall in the 2008 NBA Draft.FanHouse spoke to Gallinari at the NBA Live 10 launch event on Tuesday about his health status and dealing with playing under the bright lights of the Big Apple. The video interview is below.

Best all-purpose interviewer out there.
Keep up the good work Ariel.
Poor Dani. I hope his back gets better. And I hope he has a good rookie campaign in his second season. But he has an uphill battle ahead of him to get more than Nbdl playing time. Harrington is a huge, power, center, by small ball standard, so is Lee and Chandler. Much less Hill, Jeffries, Milicic, Curry. By small ball standards, the standards associated with Coach D`Antonni, the Knicks need two (or one) wing forwards and two (or one) wing guards to alternate with Larry Hughes. They need SPEED. And they need to look at Salt Lake City, say, it is the 50th largest market in the US, what are THEY doing right, what are WE doing WRONG. And one obvious answer is: Sign good college scouts. The main Jazz free agent acquisition, BOOzer, is much rumored to be on the trade block. The Jazz aren`t built with other team` has beens and never wases. They are built with generally eager, hard working, coachable, young kids. And stability. Larry Brown had ONE season as Knick coach, and was bought out. Len Wilkens similar. Coaches need time, to get the GM`s ear, time to get THEIR style players, time to teach THEIR system, time to gain confidence in their athletes, and time for their athletes to gain confidence in them. New York never lured Stockton or Malone away from Utah. They won`t lure James either. Superstars get more endorsement offers than they can accept if they are based in Salt Lake. They get hundreds of cable entertainment channels if they want it. New York needs to build thru the draft. By the time a player gets enough of a rep for NYC to covet him, he is already starting to get injured, starting on his way down. But drafting rooks with back injuries does not shake the confidence the Knicks, who haven`t won a championship in 46 years, will win one any time soon. The jazz secret? Hard work, commitment. Regardless of glamor, regardless of hype. Active, healthy, bodies win games, not active publicity agents.
