The Lakers opened the preseason on Wednesday, and while the story lines going in were mainly about Ron Artest and Andrew Bynum (who both looked fabulous), when it was over, all anyone was talking about was Shannon Brown.
Since most teams in the league haven't even played two preseason games yet, I don't think it's an exaggeration to call Brown's insane dunk over the seven-foot tall Mikki Moore the highlight of this very, very young season. And judging by the reaction on the internets, this play might stay at the top of the list for quite some time.
The video clip awaits, after the jump.

Amazing one!
Phil Jackson's long-standing prejudice against starting young players will hopefully come to an end. And I'm not talking about Bynum: Bynum is an anomaly, a big, big center with rearkable athletic skils and a great touch on his jumper. I'm talking about Shannon Brown. The Lakers have not had a dominant point guard since Magic and his sub, Sedale Threatt, who was the most under rated guard in the NBA. SHANNON BROWN. Amazing athletic ability, great defender, great passer and tremendous shot. Mitch Kupchak is the second coming of Jerry West: not only did he steal Paul Gasol, but an equally impressive trade will be Josh Powell, Adam Morrison and Josh Powell for ...Vladmir Rachmanovic, one of the biggest flakes in the NBA??? Brown should be, and will be, the Laker's starting point guard soon. That sends Odom back to the bench, where he will win the 6th Man Award, making the Laker's an opponent's nightmare. And Morrison lit up the summer league: he's healthy, mature, and in the right spot to do what he does best...score, score, score. This might be the greatest team any franchise has fielded since the Lakers/Celtics in teh 80's, and with a team full of all star caliber players, this might -- might -- be better than those two. Amazing talent: if they stay healthy, it's going to be very tough to beat them.
Brown is not a point guard, he is a wing guard. But Jackson isn`t much fond of point guard, so Brown will vie this season for minutes with Fisher, a small wing guard, Farmer, a point guard, and Vujacic, alongside the leading assist Laker, Kobe Bryant, and maybe with Artest, who was acquired to defend Anthony and James, but has always played some guard in his career as well. Jackson may not like the slowness on D and on the boards of the big line up, but apparently is going to try it first, like he did last season, only to abandon it for more speed when the games counted most, in the playoffs. Expect them to be the best in the west if they stay healthy.
Are you ready for some B-BALL.......lolololololol
