Following his successful rookie year with the Orlando Magic last season, Courtney Lee could have never imagined being traded. But such is the life in the NBA, where the Magic decided to ship one of their bright young stars for the opportunity to team Dwight Howard up with Vince Carter. As a result, Lee enters this upcoming season with the New Jersey Nets with an Epcot Center-sized chip on his shoulder.FanHouse recently spoke to Lee at the NBA Live 10 launch event in New York about how long it took for him to get over the trade and why the Nets shouldn't be counted out before the season even starts. The video interview is below.

I BELIEVE THE MAGIC MADE A BIG ERROR TRADING CORTNEY LEE AWAY, EVEN FOR AN ALLSTAR LIKE VINCE CARTER. SEE, EVERY YEAR LEE WOULD BE GETTING BETTER AND STRONGER AND WITH HIS TALENT COULD EASILY MATCH CARTERS OVER ALL CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE MAGIC. I JUST FEEL MR. CARTER MAY HAVE THE,"REST ON MY LAURALS ADDITUDE. HE'S ALREADY GOT THE RECOGNITION AND PLENTY OF MONEY. REPLY, JAY

If the Magic only had JJ Redick, who has been playing reasonably well this preseason, trading Lee and Alston, etc. for Anderson and Carter, etc., might have been risky. But the Magic also still hvae Mike Pietrus. Carter, second, Pietrus, and Anderson are all in the top five in scoring for the Magic so far this preseason, and may all start, at least the first 10 games of the regular season. Might even have all started without the 10 game suspension of leading scorer, Lewis. Howard continues to need to work on moving his feet more. Bass is in the top five scorers, Howard is not. He has to get open more aggressive so his teammates can pass to him more aggressively. Gortat has been rebounding as well as Howard, and Anderson hasn`t been rebounding badly. Howard will step it up, maybe double his out put once the regular season starts. He certainly needs to. Nelson`s rehab continues to go slowly. He should not start in maybe at least this first ten game stretch. When Lewis rejoins the team, he and Nelson should come of the bench together, and prove themselves. Tentative starting five the suspension games, Howard, Anderson, Bass, Carter, Pietrus. No pure wing forward, no pure point guard. Remains to be seen whether Lewis should replace Bass or Anderson when he plays his way back. And Gortat could start at power forward or center, most likely ahead of Bass or Anderson if he started.
