David Stern Doesn't Want LeBron in NY

A reasonable thing for the Commish to say. Like when Shaq said staying with Orlando was the first option. Didn`t do it, of course. The Commish, a former Knicks season ticket holder, shouldn`t say he wants any Nba athlete to desert his team, much less for his tome team. Tampering. But you can be sure, in the unlikely event James were to sign with the Nets or Knicks, the Commish would have season tickets before the ink was dry. James will not sign with New York, though, unless he changes sports. No all stars to join in New York in the Nba. If he leaves Cleveland, a distince possibility if they don`t win the championship this season, but even then not likely, it will be for a sun belt team with an all star candidate. The Clippers, if Blake Griffith progresses more than can reasonably be hoped. The Lakers. The Suns. The Spurs. The Mavericks. The Rockets. The Magic. The Heat. And if James goes to the best of those situations, Bosh will likely go to the second best of those situations if he leaves the Raptors. Free agency isn`t like the draft lottery. The league can`t simply accidentally pick New York when a guy like Ewing is available. The athlete has to actually want to go. And these days, superstars like James get TOO MUCH attention, even in the league`s smallest market, Salt Lake City. O`Neal is even more a godsend to James with the press than he is on court, even though he is an all star. The sound of one hand clapping is silence. The sound of two hands clapping, may turn out to be applause for two legit all star candidates having a legit chance to win a championship. If not, Cincinatti is overtaking Cleveland in Ohio, and Columbus has an even higher growth rate. Neither has Nba teams. That does not bode well for the Cavs, much less James, staying in Cleveland if the team does not win the championship this season. Historically, Cavaliers were french. The team may move to Montreal, or any of a variety of other places if losing the championship means losing O`Neal and James. And the commish shouldn`t want to seem to be rooting for the possible demise of the franchise which won the most games last season. But it is a tough economy, and tough financial decisions will be made all over, not just in the Nba.

James IS a Cavalier and will remain a Cavalier.The NY Knicks scenario is absolutely laughable.Other than a couple of nobody's,the Knicks have no players under contract after this year other than the ludicrous contracts of Curry and Jeffries.A pair of worthless scrubs that will chew up half their payroll.James also knows that defense wins championships in this league and D'Antoni doesn't even PRACTICE defense,let alone play it.Anybody who thinks that this laughing stock of a franchise has what it takes to lure James,is not facing reality.

DFried 98 - Obviously,not every team that plays good defense wins the title in the same year,but look at the last several NBA Champs.Every team was a good defensive team.Speculate all YOU want,but you don't know who makes the Finals this year.Remember,the Knicks will NOT,not even close,they will not have cap room to sign James AND a Wade or Bosh and still sign 10 other roster spots.It's completely IMPOSSIBLE with Curry and Jeffries on the roster.You don't even have a clue as to what you're talking about.

Obviously, the Commish doesn`t remeber Wilt Chamberlain if he thinks LeBron is the greatest ever. He`s just the current MVP. Jim Loscutoff`s Celtics were the greatest small ball team ever, winning 9 out of 10 championships under Tom Heinsohn, all of Auebach`s championships, but Wilt was the greatest individual athlete ever in the Nba. And the article on the Hawks shows what happens if I cut down comments. Then folks find fault with me for leaving things out, so I have to go back and post more! Can`t win for losin`. () :-(

the thing you have to remember is that bron is from ohio, he was watched the browns fall short and watched the cavs fall short and watched the indians fall short. he is one of us. im from ohio. he wants to win here, this is his home.

Its not the money for Le Bron; it's the ring. Maybe he'll do like Randy Moss and take less money for the chance at a Superbowl championship. He's going to be a billionaire anyway so it doesn't matter how much any team offers; he doesn't need cash or endorsement money. All he as to do is find the team that gives him the best chance to win.
The Knicks are NO where near that level.
