ESPN's Chris Sheridan reports on the world's first non-uStream Stephon Marbury sighting of the NBA season. It came at Madison Square Garden, where Knicks security had to ask a paid-in-full Starbury to go to his seat. Marbury had purchased a ticket in row A (that's the second row) for Saturday night's Knicks home opener against the Sixers. The only problem was that Marbury instead tried to sit in row AA (the Spike Lee zone).Sheridan reports that Marbury spent part of the first quarter standing and recording live video of the action (as pictured). Eventually, a Madison Square Garden security guard asked Marbury to move to his actual seat. Instead of doing so, Sheridan reports that the former self-professed World's Greatest Point Guard left the arena. Front row or bust! Hilariously, according to the New York Daily News's Mitch Lawrence, a Knicks usher mistakenly sat Marbury in the front row in the first place. Whoops.

So Marbury was jerked around again, probably on purpose, as a Halloween prank and Knicks publicity stunt. Just as well he left. Wasn`t much defense to watch. Especially in the 5 to 19 OT. Harrington, never an all pro defender, fouled out, and the Knicks just fell apart on both ends of the court. 0 for the season so far. Can`t say any Knick played well, but at least they got points from Harrington, Gallinari, Hughes, and others. If they can keep getting points from Gallinari and Hughes, who`d done little in the preseason, the Knicks could be fun to watch, and if Millicic starts getting some points to go with his rebounds, the Knicks might even win some games. They have enough talent, and a proven offensive coach, except at the post, so if they ever start playing D, they might even make the playoffs (and be bounced in the first round).
THIS DUDE SAYS HE WANTS TO SIT OUT THIS YEAR AND ITS HIS DECISION. YEAH RIGHT!!!! SEEMS TO ME NOBODY WANTED HIM AND FOR GOOD REASONS. 1. BETTER OPTIONS. 2. DOESN'T BRING ANYTHING TO THE TABLE. 3. BAD ATTITUDE. 4. SIMPLY OVERRATED. 5. WHY!!!
How can you say that Marbury is overated when noone even rates him. He is a talented ball player and you cannot deny his stats back that up, But he has not the ability or mental make-up to lead a team. For all his talents, he actually makes a team worse with the negatives that he brings with him on and off the court. The only tean that was willing to take him was Boston and he turned them down. That goes to show you that the guy does not know what he is doing. If I was a point coming off the bench and I had the opportunutiy to lob it KG throw it out to Sheed and Pierce for three and pick up about 5 or 6 assist in the process playing about 20 minutes a game I would be ecstatic. There is no more 20 mill contracts out there if that is what he is looking for, there is not 10 mill contracts either
tyrekyoung, I agree with everything you said, except for your comment that Boston was willing to take him and Marbury turned them down. My understanding is that Boston decided not to offer him another contract after he smoked weed (and a few other antics) on the web. He was actually well-behaved during his few months with Boston last year and seemed willing to take on any role asked of him. The Celtics were probably going to give him another shot this year if he hadn't gone off the deep end after the season. He really never had a chance to shake off the rust and there would have been a lot of upside potential if he could have come into training camp with the team this year. Unfortunately, he ruined his chances of being signed. With all the time he's missed over a 2 or 3 year period - and at his age - I think a comeback at this point is next to impossible. I actually feel bad for him. He seems like a pretty decent and caring person and it bothers me to see all the haters beating on him.
HIS STATS WHILE DECENT, DID FANS COME TO SEE HIM PAD HIS STATS OR THE TEAMS HE PLAYED ON WIN. WOULD MICHAEL JORDAN GET ALL HIS PROPS WITHOUT THE CHAMPIONSHIPS? KOBE DOESN'T SEEM TO THINK SO.
If you would read the rest of my comment you would see that I said that he makes team worse and he is not a winner. He sought fo reminds me of Carlos Boozer another player who will have good nimbers and can be a perenial allstar but he plays more for the money than anything else, that is why he left Cleveland in the first place and the reason why he will not leave Utah now. Boozer knew Lebron was going to be the man on that team and would be paid accordngly and Cleveland would not be able to pay them both max dollars. Getting back to Starbury or Marbury, everyone talks about him not being a good basketball player. I think we allow the way we feel about these players affect what we say and write. Again you can not deny Marbury stats, he along with Magix and the Big O are the only players to ever average over 17 and 8 for thier career. Now those two players are HALL OF FAMERS. Marbury will never even smell or come close to the Hall. I think that 3 or 4 years of college would have done him some good. Marbury would have been forced to LEARN HOW TO PLAY THE GAME THE WAY THAT IT WAS MEANT TO BE PLAYED AND DEVELOPED SOME CHARACTER AND HOW TO DEAL WITH PRESSURE SITUATION. Remember Marbury came from High School (1 year at GT) where he was successful and noone could tell him that he was wrong or that he needed to improve in other areas or he would be benched.
