Bucks rookie point guard Brandon Jennings, he of the European diversion, created enough hype to fill up the Bradley Center twice during his first six games, with a 20-point per game average earning Rookie of the Year chatter coast to coast. Suffice it to say Jennings's 55-point outburst Saturday night against (yes) the Warriors will ratchet up to volume of those calls to unbelievable levels.Jennings dropped 29 points in the third quarter against Golden State, and 45 in the second half for a come-from-behind 129-125 win for Milwaukee. He broke Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's Bucks rookie record for points in a game (KAJ, then Lew Alcindor, had 51) and came within a bucket of teammate Michael Redd's single-game franchise record (57). He was three points away from Wilt Chamberlain's NBA rookie record for points in a game.
And of course, Jennings drew rave reviews from his coach Scott Skiles, a former point guard.
Skiles told reporters that Bucks coaches unleashed Jennings at halftime. BJ had only 10 points at halftime, all of them coming in the second quarter.
"We just simplified it. We gave the ball to Brandon and let him go to work. He doesn't force it normally, especially considering he's a rookie. The Warriors passed on Jennings to select guard Stephen Curry with the No. 7 pick last June. Curry scored 14 points in 26 minutes of play against Milwaukee.
"It's hard to say this, especially when he gets 29 points in a quarter. But he's not greedy. He's still playing basketball out there; he's not searching for his own. He's trying to help us win the game."

BJ is a joy to watch! I realize he'll eventually have to give us Buck fans the Bart Favre treatment when he becomes a free agent, but until then it's been nice to watch him explode into the next "jordan",, that guy who takes over a game and lights you up on both ends of the court. If we had some real pocket money, I could see bringing in a top notch SG/SF to comlpement BJ and Bogut. I hear there's a pretty talented kid in Cleveland named James that will be a free agent after this season. Being thaat D Wade was a Marquette local boy that we Buck fans sure wish could have stayed home. BJ has made us totally forget Wade. There is something very good going on up here in North Cudahy, the bucks are rising. Once we dump Redd's salary (hopefully a sign and trade before the trade deadline so we can get a draft pick or so) and continue to pick up guys that fit Hammond and Skiles floor plan, there is gonna be a resurgence to 6he old Sikma/Lanier/Pierce/Moncrief era here in Brew City. This kid is what TJ Ford was supposed to be and I never expected it for a minute after so many dink drafts. Great work John and Scotty for starting something good!
I think it would be more likely that he would truly go home to Chicago than to his college town, to be honest. That said, I doubt he will end up there either.
I'm happy for Brandon Jennings. He was overlooked and slipped in the draft and kudos to the Bucks who took him after he was passed over by more big name guards simply because he chose another route. He kinda reminds me in talent of Allen Iverso who was a monster offensive talent and actually led the league in steals one year when he was young. This kid is gonna be a star for a long time.
I first saw BJ play in a reebok camp when he was in the 8th grade. I told everyone there and everyone I talked to ever since that this kid is gonna be a pro and I mean right out of high school. As I got to know him and get to recognize the mentallity he has for competition and his desire to be the absolute best, I knew then and now that this kid is destined to be one of the all time greats. I also am an associate of Dr. Jerry Buss, owner of the Lakers. I called him 4 years ago and met him for lunch just to tell him please put your team in position to get this kid when he comes out. This was the same summer he was having trouble with Kobe, but of course the Lakers have done to well since then to have a draft choice that high. I was with him last night, and he said to me, you realluy know your basketball don't you! Milwaukee surround this kid with all the support you can. He will take you where you want to go, because he wants to go there too! He will motivate and inspire every other player on that team, you watch. And guys that you don't think much of now, you will see a difference, includiong Michael Redd. As long as he is there you may as well get the most you can out of him and BJ will inspire all of them to have fun and play harder than you have seen them ever play!
this is great for the BUCKS
What the hell is wrong with the Knick franchise? There's nothing better in NYC when the Knicks are a pleasure to watch. Now they've ruined my winter for the eighth strait year (if not longer) and I am pissed.
Ever since they passed on Ron Artest for that frenchman (like how many frenchmen have ever played in the NBA) they seem to be doomed to banality. When the Dolans finally rid themselves of Thomas my hopes soared. I thought this Walsh guy knew the game but then he takes Hill with the 8th pick? Does he no longer have a clue in judging basketball talent?
It's just as bad as when Isaah made that unbelievably inane trade for Marbury since anyone w a brain knew what his chemistry would bring. But at least Thomas occasionally understood talent (Chandler).
I saw Lebron when he was back in high school and destroyed Boys High (or some city school). I would have made him my # 1 pick then, so for Walsh to attempt to get him now really doesn't amount to much. He's destroyed two entire seasons of basketball.
And at a time when we are totally desperate, Walsh and the gang pass on a Jennings (and how many others) to take a Hill? His main job is to evaluate and acquire ballplayers. There are probably guys on the Harlem playgrounds who could help but you have to get off your asses and do some work. He has failed miserably
Obviously the game has passed Walsh by. It takes hard work and guts and a critical eye to gather the parts necessary for an NBA title, something that continues to be lacking throughout the entire Knick franchise. It is a sad, confusing and utterly deplorable situation and everyone involved should be ashamed with the utter lack of a commitment to excellence.
Perhaps our only chance is for Mayor Bloomberg wanting to depart with a wonderful legacy. He could buy out or somehow force out the mediocre Dolans and put the Knicks in the hands of someone who cares for basketball and what it means to our city.
Jennings comes from the same
school that Rubio comes from
both players played in the
Euro-league ;
In this league the pg's make
huge contributions to their
teams allowing them to run
the floor openly and with no
restrictions ala CP of the hornets
plain and simple is a different
configuration but gives the pg's
a lot of confidence to help their
teams to the max.
