The Golden State Warriors no longer have a Stephen Jackson problem. He's Larry Brown's issue now.The Warriors and Bobcats reached agreement Monday morning on a trade that will send Jackson and Acie Law to Charlotte for Raja Bell and Vladimir Radmanovic. Jackson had made it clear late in the summer that he "was looking to leave" the Warriors and hadn't relented on that theme through the early regular season.
The Bobcats weren't on Jackson's original "wish list" of teams, however, his agent, Mark Stevens had said about a week ago that his client would be willing to play for any team if it meant getting out of Golden State.
The Cleveland Cavaliers had been the favorites in acquiring Jackson, but that apparently changed in recent weeks. It was widely reported the Warriors wanted to acquire Zydrunas Ilgauskas, and his expiring contract, for Jackson but the Cavaliers were unwilling to do that.
The Warriors had been very interested in acquiring second-year power forward J.J. Hickson from the Cavaliers, but in recent games Hickson has emerged, making Cleveland less likely to part with him.
It remains to be seen if Charlotte will keep Jackson or look to move him. The Bobcats now find themselves with three versatile swingmen -- Gerald Wallace, Boris Diaw and Jackson.
Pe
rhaps the best part of the trade from the Warriors' perspective is that it saves them approximately $20 million. Bell is on the final year of his contract, and Radmanovic's contract runs through 2010-11 (assuming he doesn't exercise his early termination).
Jackson, on the other hand, has three-plus years remaining on his deal, and is owed upwards of $28 million after this season ends. Jackson signed a contract extension with the Warriors less than a year ago, and it runs through 2013.

well done Stephen, you got traded to a playoff contender..bravo!!
I thought the Okafor/Chandler move was for financial flexibility, to allow Charlotte to sell it's franchise. This move entirely erases that.
As for Golden State, they were REALLY HURTING in the SG/SF department. (caps denotes sarcasm)
The Warriors havent had a good center since Nate Thurmond and havent played defense since they had Nate Thurmond..that was...35 years ago???? And they wonder why they make the playoffs once every ten years...to the Warriors if they keep a team to under 60 points in a half they consider it fantastic defense.
LOL ... Great that Jackson got traded to a cellar steller team! I was hoping for more in trade but at least the cancer is gone! Time will tell if Ellis caught the godawful cancer of attitude yet besides that the Warriors have a good young team that can now try and find some chemistry together if Nelson doesn't get too much in the way. Yeah their GM sucks ... and Nelson sometimes is a total miserable A hole to young players ... but they are a fun team to watch and when their two big men get healthy they will compete with the best of them. Great that they unloaded the head case finally ... don't let the door hit you in the arse Jackson!
Some athletes would thank their lucky stars that they made it to the NBA, but we still have these spoiled brats who get there, think the game belongs to them and all of a sudden making millions of dollars per year just isn't enough. If it wasn't for the NBA, where would this guy be? Would he be a doctor or lawyer, or a businessman who works his tail off to sell his product or service to others? Doubtful. Given this guy's attitude, he'd probably be in some prison, or living in his car.
sometimes one wins by losing - in this case we got crap, but we got rid of a bigger pile. However, with Nelson running the team, it can't all be Jacksons fault. Here is a partial list of the players Nelson has eliminated or who have gone running as fast as possible when their contract ran out: J. Richardson, B. Davis, J. Crawford, M. Pietrius, M. Dunleavy, M. Bernelli, M. Barnes, Powell (Lakers), I. Diogu, T. Murphy, Mbenga (Lakers),and now S. Jackson and A. Law. Wouldn't this make a pretty good team? And what have we gotten in return?
Soon we will find our new players, having endured 3 years in Nelson Hell, leaving quickly. Look for an exit by Wright, Watson, Randolph as soon as legally possible.
Blamed for everything, yea right he`s made every team he`s been on worse !
IF ... that is a BIG IF, Jackson was capable of concentrating on playing basketball and working like a member of a team, he would still be with the Warriors. Jackson is all about Jackson and a cancer wherever he goes ... face it ... that is his history. Look at the facts rather than buying into his big chip on his shoulder. He negotiated a great contract and then quit on the Warriors ... so I for one am glad to see this head case gone! Would have been nice to get someone worth their salt in the deal but getting rid of Jackson is a big PLUS for the Warriors! Glad he went to a floundering team in the deep south ... LOL ... Perfect!
the warriors have always been a lost cause. it started when al attles and frank mueli thought they were gifted because they got lucky with their team in 1975. for years after that they would always been a team on second tier players, their motto became we bring the fans good basketball, but we won't win a damn thing. then came don "no defense" nelson, who by all accounts has never understood that great teams play on both sides of the ball. THE WARRIOR FANS ARE THE LACKEY'S OF THE NBA, THEY PAY TO SEE THIS CRAP YEAR AFTER YEAR WITH NO HOPE OF BEING A SERIOUS CONTENDER, THEY DESERVE WHAT THEY GET. STAY AWAY FROM THE GAMES AND MAYBE THIS PISS POOR ORGANIZATION WILL GET A CLUE.
